We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Advanced Radiographer to join our Imaging Team. The post available is based at Hammersmith Hospital.

The post will give you the opportunity to build on and extend your clinical expertise and also develop your management and leadership skills. Education and training are key elements of the department and the applicant should have a good knowledge of all specialised modalities. Being flexible and innovative in your ways of working will be fundamental to your role and good communication skills are essential.

The Imaging department at Hammersmith Hospital offers a comprehensive range of procedures over a variety of modalities with both clinical and research work being undertaken. As part of the first Academic Health Science Centre, our aim is to provide world-class healthcare to our patients through excellence in research, education and training. We provide complex imaging for the many specialist centers within our Hospital, including Renal Transplant Medicine, Hepatobiliary and Cardiothoracic medicine.

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust comprises of five hospitals – Charing Cross, Hammersmith, St Mary’s, Queen Charlottes and Chelsea and the Western Eye Hospital – and integrating with Imperial College London, offers 50 clinical specialties and has one of the largest portfolios in the country.

Please note that you must be a qualified diagnostic radiographer who is registered with the HCPC to apply for this job.

### Main duties of the job

- To carry out radiographic examinations across a range of modalities to the agreed standard of the department.
- To maintain a high standard of patient care and comfort and be patient focused at all times.
- To work in an efficient and effective manner at all times.
- To appear on duty promptly and appropriately dressed and behave in a professional manner at all times.
- To plan, prioritise and organise own workload.
- To vet request forms for validity and appropriateness.
- To determine whether repeat X-rays or extra projections are required.
- To undertake IV injections in line with departmental policy.
- To report any untoward incidents and equipment failure to the area superintendent radiographer.
- To work unsupervised as and when required.
- To work using own initiative but be aware own limitations and seek guidance when necessary.
- To work flexibly based on requirements of service.
- To carry out duties which may be considered necessary and consistent with the responsibilities of the post.

## Person Specification

### Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to teach and mentor students, more junior staff and new members of staff.
- Ability to cope with work pressures and manage time effectively
- Ability to cope with conflict and complaints at local level commensurate with Trust policies
- Ability to make prompt decisions based on knowledge, experience and circumstances

### Education

**Essential**

- BSc(Hons) Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent
- Health Professions Council Registration
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- College of Radiographers accredited IV cannulation course or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Student clinical assessors course
- Post graduate modules in topics relevant to post
- Portfolio demonstrating ongoing CPD

### Experience

**Essential**

- Up to date knowledge of general imaging techniques
- 18 months experience of working at a Band 6 Senior Radiographer level
- Able to work unsupervised
- Awareness of clinical governance issue in relation to patient care

**Desirable**

- Previous experience as a Band 7 Senior Radiographer
- Recent IR experience
