- Supporting a 7-day ultrasound service, including weekends and bank/public holidays, in line with service requirements.

Eligibility Criteria - This vacancy is open to:

- HCPC - registered Sonographers who hold an international ultrasound qualification.
- Direct access candidates who have completed a CASE-accredited BSc in Medical Ultrasound. These candidates must be RCT-registered or able to demonstrate they are actively working towards registration

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

### Main duties of the job

The Imaging department is seeking an enthusiastic sonographer to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will have opportunity to train, mentor and develop other staff to work to high standards. We are a modern department, fast paced, dynamic and vibrant with an interesting and challenging case load especially our in-patient departments. The service covers general ultrasound departments as well as a variety of sub-specialties including MSK, paediatrics, vascular and interventional. The ultrasound service is provided across 3 sites, University Hospital Coventry , Hospital of St Cross and the Coventry City Centre. The service will be expanding into the Community Diagnostic centre and the development is planned currently for 2026.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- To perform Ultrasound examinations and capture high quality diagnostic ultrasound images, in line with national and departmental protocols.
- To carry out Ultrasound procedures/examinations and prepare independent clinical reports, in line with departmental protocols.
- To prioritise patient welfare and safety at all times, adapting and modifying ultrasound imaging techniques in response to individual patient needs and clinical condition
- To discuss the findings of the ultrasound examinations with patients where appropriate
- To provide expert clinical and professional advice and support the multidisciplinary team within the UHCW NHS Trust and if appropriate, with teams from other Trusts within the region.
- To be responsible for the operational supervision and management of an allocated clinical area. To be able to assess and manage workflow by utilising available resources and thereby deliver efficient and effective service.
- To participate in request validation, vetting and justification in accordance with departmental protocols
- To verify patient identification and documentation, ensuring that the appropriate ultrasound examinations are performed in accordance with departmental imaging protocols.
- To assess the quality of ultrasound images, initiate corrective actions when necessary, and promptly escalate any abnormalities to clinicians in line with radiology department protocols
- To take responsibility for professional conduct, acting as a role model within the department by upholding high standards of patient care and professionalism, and fostering the growth of a resilient and collaborative multidisciplinary team.
- To contribute to the development and refinement of ultrasound protocols, promoting best practice through the integration of evidence-based research.
- To participate in the departmental Quality Assurance program to ensure the efficient operation of the highly technical equipment, and to ensure compliance with best practice.
