An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Advanced Practice Physiotherapist  to join Hambleton & Richmondshire MSK Service based at the Friarage in Northallerton.

The post holder will have a proven track record in the management of complex musculoskeletal pathology with excellent clinical skills.

Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team would be desirable. Accountability will be to the Service Lead, with strong professional links to the Head of Physiotherapy.

We are an MDT comprising of Advanced Practice Physiotherapists, Specialist Physiotherapists and a Specialist Podiatrist along with a GPwSI providing high quality clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of peripheral musculoskeletal conditions to ensure the right care at the right time, with strong links to Orthopaedics and Rheumatology Services.

The post also involves the triage of Secondary Care referrals as the MSK Service is the commissioned route to Orthopaedics in Hambleton & Richmondshire.

It is likely that the post-holder will also run a Secondary Care Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle clinic at the Friarage.

Finding physiotherapists with the skills and qualifications for an Advanced Practice role can prove challenging therefore a development Advanced Practice role may be considered as a B7 whilst the qualifications and competencies are being gained.

### Main duties of the job

The postholder will  provide independent assessment, investigation, diagnosis, advice on the management and treatment for patients presenting with peripheral musculoskeletal problems referred by primary care clinicians i.e. GP’s, nurse practitioners, physiotherapists, podiatrists, whose complexity or severity precludes management in the primary care setting.

The postholder will act as a source of specialist knowledge and expertise on the management of peripheral soft tissue and non inflammatory joint disease and to provide an advisory service to Specialist Physiotherapists within the team, senior community physiotherapists, GP’s and other health care professionals (e.g. podiatrists, nurse practitioners).

The postholder will work as a part of the MSK Service to independently triage all GP referrals to orthopaedics through highly advanced specialist assessment of patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders making decisions on appropriate services for each referral.

To be active in both formal and informal education of other staff  as well as demonstrating own educational development.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Extensive post registration experience working at a senior level within the speciality area (Band 8A)
- Experience of student and junior supervision. (Band 8A)
- Experience of working in the NHS (Band 8A)

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Degree-level registration in Physiotherapy or equivalent post-registration award (Band 7)
- HCPC Registration. (Band 7)
- Evidence of relevant CPD to demonstrate development towards advanced practice capability (Band 7)
- Portfolio demonstrating continued professional development/supporting professional activities (Band 7)
- Ability and drive to complete the MSc in advanced clinical practice successfully and attain the full AP MSc qualification (Band 7)
- Will work towards and complete any appropriate credential routes which are available and applicable to the clinical area (Band 7)
