The Pharmacy Department has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, highly motivated Pharmacist to join the team. As a key member of the Renal Team you will work directly alongside Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Non-Medical Prescribers, Pharmacy staff and with the wider Healthcare team.

The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering clinical Pharmacy Services to a range of specialties. You will be committed to the provision of highly specialist professional, clinical and scientific information and advice to Multidisciplinary Healthcare staff, patients and carers by using excellent communication and mentoring skills. The role requires strong prioritisation and time management skills to enable you to work efficiently and effectively as part of the wider healthcare team. You will have the highest level of commitment to patient safety and be dedicated to delivering outstanding medicines management.

### Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

- To act as a non-medical prescriber
- To provide and oversee pharmacy services to the renal specialty.
- To provide specialist pharmacy advice in the areas of renal medicine to consultants, junior medical staff, nursing staff, pharmacy staff, other healthcare professionals, patients and carers.
- To liaise with speciality medical and nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, general managers, drug budget holders, pharmacy staff involved in medicine supply, medicines information pharmacists and regional and national colleagues in the area of renal medicine.
- To contribute to the wider healthcare community’s management of renal conditions, providing a link between pharmacy and renal services at Dorset County Hospital to patients and staff in primary care.
- To participate in the training of medical, nursing, pharmacy, and other healthcare professionals in relation to safe prescribing and administration of renal and general medications.
- To lead, undertake and contribute to clinical governance with a focus of drugs used within renal medicine.
- To co-ordinate the use of high cost drugs within renal medicine.
- Take responsibility for policy development and service improvement within renal medicine
- To participate in the late, weekend and bank holiday rotas as required by the pharmacy department.

### Education, Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- Masters degree or equivalent in Pharmacy
- Full registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain (GB or NI)
- Diploma/MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience
- A minimum of four years post-registration experience in pharmacy
- Demonstrable evidence of competence in advanced clinical practice, including medicine and surgery and a further area of practice
- Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, or satisfactory evidence of equivalent competence, as demonstrated within a practice portfolio
- Identifies areas where non-medical prescribing may be applicable to advanced practice
- Meets expected levels of practice as defined by others
- Demonstrates the ability to deliver a clinical pharmacy service to a defined area
- Able to utilise a variety of pharmacy computer systems
- Demonstratable evidence of competence in renal
- Qualified as an independent non-medical prescriber
