We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dedicated Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Older Adult Inpatient Team based at the Julian Hospital. Our service comprises five wards, including two functional wards and three organic wards, providing specialist assessment, treatment, and care for older adults with complex mental health needs.

As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you will provide comprehensive care for service users, from initial history taking and clinical assessment through to diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care. You will demonstrate safe clinical decision-making and expert practice, including advanced assessment and diagnostic skills within a mental health setting.

Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary and medical teams, you will play a key role in meeting the needs of service users while providing strong clinical and professional nursing leadership to the wider nursing team. Critical thinking, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care will be essential within this rewarding and dynamic role.

### Main duties of the job

- Provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care for older adult service users within inpatient mental health services.
- Undertake comprehensive history taking, physical and mental health assessments, and develop person-centred care plans.
- Demonstrate expert clinical decision-making and utilise advanced diagnostic and assessment skills in the management of complex mental and physical health needs.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and medical staff to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality care.
- Prescribe medication and monitor treatment plans in line with professional registration, competency, and Trust policies.
- Provide clinical leadership, support, and professional guidance to nursing staff and the wider team.
- Support the delivery of evidence-based practice and contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in ward reviews, multidisciplinary meetings, risk management, and safeguarding processes.
- Promote recovery-focused and person-centred approaches to care, ensuring service users and carers are actively involved in care planning and decision-making.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Contribute to staff education, supervision, and the development of advanced nursing practice within Older Adult Mental Health Services.

### Experience

- Minimum 5 years post registration experience.
- Experience in managing complaints and quality assurance.
- Non-medical prescriber.

### Qualifications

- RMN (Mental Health) Post registration qualification in specialty
- Educated to Master’s degree level in relevant subject area
- Recognised leadership qualification or equivalent experience
- Independent Prescribing qualification
- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification.

**Desirable**

- Approved clinician
