Applications are invited to fulfil an opportunity as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner working within the Renal pathway. This part-time post has become available due to a funding restructure. The successful applicant will have experience in Uro-Oncology or Urology and be familiar with Renal cancer pathways. The successful applicant will work both autonomously and within the Renal cancer clinics to deliver care and should have completed or be undertaking training in advanced clinical practice. Experience in systemic and immunotherapies is desirable however training will be provided. Non-medical prescribing qualification is essential.    The successfully candidate will be undertaking nurse led clinics and working within a well established and supportive multi disciplinary team.   You should have excellent interpersonal skills and a professional manner, be able to prioritise and organise your workload and work under pressure. You will be expected to work across our Sutton and Chelsea sites, with occasional visits to our Cavendish Square site.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder has a distinct level of responsibility to patients with urological and oncological issues including urology cancers and associated problems in providing a comprehensive specialist nursing service to the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, working within a team of advanced practice nurses. The post holder will work in conjunction with the existing Uro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialists. The ANP is an experienced registered nurse that uses advanced assessment and diagnostic skills in the management of patients diagnosed with urological cancers.

The post holder will also independently provide ongoing care and treatment. This will include advanced clinical assessment, planning and initiating care and treatment, monitoring of disease progression and efficacy of treatment and the proactive management of treatment and disease related side effects. The ANP will work closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialists, as well as the Healthcare Support Workers within the team to ensure that patients receive a seamless patient journey. The post holder will provide expert nursing advice and facilitate the repatriation of patients back into the community where appropriate.

- To be professionally and legally accountable for all work undertaken and to practice at an advanced level of professional autonomy and accountability that is within national renal cancer guidelines, Royal Marsden Trust policies and NMC Codes of Conduct.
- To support the patient’s key worker ensuring continuity through the patient journey including transition between the surgical urology and oncology departments, both within the Royal Marsden and the wider referral network.
- To independently receive patient referrals utilising highly developed expert knowledge and clinical skills.
- To perform health assessments including obtaining a clinical history, conducting the physical examination and assessment of psychological wellbeing.
- To order diagnostic tests (e.g. flow rate, blood tests, CXR, echocardiography, MRI, CT, bone scan, DEXA scan) as appropriate and in keeping with National and Local guidelines.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of the urological system
- Familiar with clinical trials, including an awareness of GCP
- Recent experience of troubleshooting and managing complications
- Must possess a proven track record and have expert knowledge and skills of clinical examination, history taking and taking consent.
- Previous experience of presentations to multi professional group.
- Demonstrate leading innovative practice developments and demonstrate evidence of significant achievements gained.
- Demonstrate understanding of current health environment and the impact of current government/regional policy developments.
- Experience of audit and service evaluation in clinical speciality.
- Robust understanding of all aspects of Clinical Governance including previous experience of quality issues, audit and risk management.
- Basic knowledge of recent NHS legislation and infection control.
