### Job overview

The Midland Metropolitan Hospital, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) would like to invite motivated and committed Advanced Critical Care Practitioners (ACCPs) to join our well established and dedicated team of 15 ACCPs who deliver a 24/7 service!

The post is open to qualified ACCPs who have successfully completed MSc (or equivalent) in Advanced Practice (Critical Care) and hold membership in the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM). Applicants must be fully credentialed and eligible to practice independently within the ACCP scope of practice, supported by a portfolio of evidence across the 4 pillars of advanced practice.

We are strongly committed to career progression with opportunities to gain accreditation in POCUS and additional advanced skills in line with our local scope of practice for CICM-trained Advanced Critical Care Practitioners.

The role includes a minimum of 80% clinical commitment, with the remaining time allocated to non-clinical activities, including service development, quality improvement, education, leadership, and research. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the on-going development and sustainability of the ACCP service; the ICU educational and SIM forum, support quality improvement initiatives within ICU and develop an area of specialist interest aligned with service needs.

### Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

- Undertake comprehensive clinical assessment of a patient’s condition
- Request and perform diagnostic tests
- Initiate and manage a clinical treatment plan
- Provide accurate and effective clinical handovers
- Undertake invasive interventions within the scope of practice
- Provide professional leadership and support within a multi-professional team
- Work autonomously in recognised situations
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge across a range of subject areas relevant to the field of critical care
- Critically analyse, evaluate and synthesise different sources of information for the purpose of assessing and managing the care of a critically ill patient
- Apply the principles of diagnosis and clinical reasoning that underlie clinical judgement and decision making
- Apply theory to practice through a clinical decision-making model
- Apply the principles of therapeutics and safe prescribing
- Understand the professional accountability and legal frameworks for advanced practice
- Function at an advanced level of practice as part of the multidisciplinary team as determined by the competency framework
- Apply the principles of evidence-based practice to the management of the critically ill patient
- Actively participate in the ICU educational forum
- Understand and perform clinical audit
