### Job overview

As an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist - Oncology & Haematology you will provide an oncology and haematology clinical pharmacy service to our chemotherapy day unit and inpatient ward.

Part-time / flexible working may be considered for the right candidate You will be a source of advice for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals for cancer services, will develop other pharmacists' skills by supporting rotations in cancer services and will participate in multidisciplinary and governance meetings.

The post holder will deputise for Accountable Pharmacist for the aseptic unit in their absence and provide professional pharmacist support to the aseptic production unit; this will include clinically screening prescriptions for chemotherapy and authorising final release of products for administration to patients.

### Main duties of the job

Key areas of responsibility include:

Provide person centred care and ensure that pharmaceutical care for cancer services patients is safe, effective and cost-effective.

Liaise with commissioners, including NHS England, to ensure correct funding channels for the use of all medication.

Act as an authorised pharmacist in the pharmacy aseptic unit.

Provide support to the palliative care team.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous hospital Pharmacy experience as a Clinical Pharmacist
- Extensive experience of working in oncology and haematology
- Experience of working in a pharmacy aseptic unit
- Experience in the provision of pharmacy expertise to the clinical governance agenda, e.g. risk management, health and safety
- Experience of electronic prescribing of chemotherapy

### Education & Qualifications

**Essential**

- Master’s degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent) plus pre-registration training resulting in registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacist
- Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy qualification or proven level of equivalent experience
- Independent Prescribing qualification, or willingness to work towards qualification
- Oncology Pharmacy Course
- Current Good Clinical Practice qualification

**Desirable**

- Member of BOPA

**Essential**

- Knowledge of current issues in oncology pharmacy practice and medicines legislation
- Demonstrates commitment to Continuing Professional Development
- Knowledge of and ability to provide expert advice on the use of medicines to treat patients with malignant disease, including review of complex medication regimes and advanced level of reasoning and judgement
- Has the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines whilst paying attention to detail
