### Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to work with the Intensive Care Unit and clinical pharmacy team.

The postholder will be providing expert pharmaceutical care to critical care patients and will need good communication, time management and organisation skills.

As well as clinical skills, the postholder will also contribute to training and mentoring trainee pharmacists and pharmacy students, and lead and contribute to audit. Experience in managing individuals is an advantage.

Part-time / flexible working / hybrid working may be considered for the right candidate.

### Main duties of the job

Lead and deliver the clinical pharmacy service to the Intensive Care Unit, by providing a highly specialised level of pharmaceutical care. This will include attending ward rounds, carrying out comprehensive medication review using a complex series of data, ensuring that prescriptions are appropriate and safe, arranging supply and using your independent prescribing qualification (where applicable) to optimise patient care.

Contribute to the quality training experience and support for trainee pharmacists, pharmacy students and trainees in the multidisciplinary team.

Work with medical, nursing and the site management team to facilitate patient discharges in order to maximise patient flow.

Take the lead in developing and reviewing local guidelines and policies for ICU.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous hospital Pharmacy experience as a Clinical Pharmacist (minimum of four years post qualification including a minimum of 12 months post qualification experience in relevant specialist area)
- Previous experience should be able to demonstrate that the post-holder is able to demonstrate highly specialist expertise in Intensive Care
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working
- Previous experience of supervising/mentoring junior colleagues
- Demonstrates commitment to Continuing Professional Development

**Desirable**

- Experience of implementing and/or reviewing policies, guidelines, PGDs or equivalent

### Skills, abilities and knowledge

**Essential**

- Able to communicate and present highly complex information on the action and use of medicines at all levels within and without the department
- Able to provide expert advice on the use of medicines to treat patients within a specialist area
- Able to undertake prescription review of complex medication regimes
- Has the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines whilst paying attention to detail

### Qualifications/training and professional development

**Essential**

- Master’s degree in Pharmacy plus pre-registration training resulting in registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacist
- Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy qualification or proven level of equivalent experience

**Desirable**

- Independent Prescribing qualification
- MSc in Clinical or Technical Pharmacy
- Member of the Royal College of Pharmacy
