Applications are invited for the above post in the Immunology Laboratory and Protein Reference Unit. The department includes the Supraregional Protein Reference Unit and offers a full range of immunological investigations. The department is a nationally recognised centre of excellence for specific proteins, autoimmunity and allergy testing. We hold accreditation to UKAS ISO15189:2022 and we are an accredited IBMS training centre.

Please note, candidates will only be considered if they have some experience of working in a clinical laboratory at either a Band 2 or Band 3 level. Previous experience in a clinical laboratory is an essential requirement for this role. Candidates without this experience will not be shortlisted.

### Main duties of the job

We are looking for Advanced Biomedical Support Workers to assist and support registered Biomedical Scientists in delivering a specialised Immunology service, contributing to the efficient and effective running of the department.

The role involves specimen reception, preparation and processing, including faecal extractions and supporting urine bench work, as well as assisting in the operation of Immunology analysers such as Phadia 250, Siemens BNII, Siemens Immulite, and Euroimmun platforms (EUROLab and 1-2P). You will ensure all work is carried out in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.

You will maintain accurate records using the laboratory information system and undertake delegated duties such as stock control, equipment checks under supervision, and maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.

Working as part of a team, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality diagnostic Immunology service, demonstrating attention to detail, good communication skills, and flexibility to meet service needs.

The department operates between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required to meet service needs.
