The Rheumatology Day Unit is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to provide administrative support to the Rheumatology Nursing Team.

This post is fixed term for 7 months to cover maternity leave.

This is a busy and varied office based role covering a wide range of clerical duties including dealing with queries from patients and providing support to health professionals at all levels.  The role can sometimes be quite demanding, therefore an ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks as well as respond to instruction is essential.

An understanding and awareness of confidentiality is vital as well as the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post.  Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

### Main duties of the job

The role requires excellent organisational abilities and communication skills as well as strong IT skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.  A knowledge of NHS software packages such as PMS is essential.

This is a busy and varied office based role covering a wide range of clerical duties including dealing with queries from patients to supporting health professionals at all levels.

Main duties will including answering phone calls and answering patients queries. Messages to be given to the correct teams, admin support to be provided for nursing staff and day unit diary to be updated.

The role requires excellent organisational abilities and communication skills as well as strong IT skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.  A knowledge of NHS software packages such as PMS is essential.

The post holder will be an integral member of the administration team, supporting the nurses and health professionals of the administrative function as required.

To deal competently and discreetly with queries using appropriate protocols in accordance with the Data Protection Act in a prompt manner

Deal with telephone enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, recording messages as appropriate and ensuring that the relevant staff/team/health professionals receive such messages.

**Essential**

- Effective communication skills both written and verbal. Demonstrate ability to undertake a wide range of basic administrative tasks. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Proactive approach. Ability to problem solve and prioritise

**Desirable**

- Ability to contribute to the continuous improvement of systems and processes

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous experience of using software packages such as Microsoft Office i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Previous office/reception experience. Experience of working in a patient or public environment. Experience of working within a team. Experience of data inputting and retrieval

**Desirable**

- Previous NHS experience. Experience of using Electronic Patient Record Systems i.e. PARIS, CYPRIS, ORACLE, PMS etc

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent

**Desirable**

- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent. IT Qualification
