An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, enthusiastic clinician to join our team in Acute Medicine at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Substantive and 12 month fixed term positions are available.

(Fixed term consultant post will will be offered opportunity to progress to substantive position subject to pending terms and conditions.

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation trust comprises of Warrington Hospital which has 570 beds and Halton Hospital which has community beds. The Emergency Department (ED) at Warrington serves a population of over 310,000 people; it is open 24 hours daily and sees 85,000 new patients per year. There are a wide range of specialties on site including medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, ENT, ophthalmology, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology.  Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospital has been rated ‘Good’ in its most recent CQC inspection.

Acute Medicine at Warrington Hospital offers the opportunity to work on a dynamic, fast paced 36 bedded Acute Medicine Unit and Same Day Emergency Care Unit with an Acute Medicine follow up clinic.

### Main duties of the job

The successful applicant appointed to a substantive or a fixed term contract for the period of 12 months,  will have a mixed experience of Acute Medical Unit ward rounds, assessment of patients in the SDEC unit, and first consultant reviews in ED.  Time for administration and SPA has been factored into the job plan. The job attracts payment at 10 PAs per week.

The successful applicant will form part of the senior doctor presence within the Acute Medicine Team working across all areas within Acute Medicine including the Acute Medicine Unit, Same Day Emergency Care Unit, and Acute Medicine patients within ED (Emergency Department).  There will be the opportunity to support with training and education within Acute Medicine, delivering teaching sessions as part of the weekly Acute Medicine Teaching Programme.  The successful applicant will be encouraged to take an active role in service development and Quality Improvement Projects to improve patient care and safety.

This post offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated Acute Medicine Consultant to deliver high quality, effective clinical care in a busy modern District General Hospital. Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining a Certificate of Completion of Training at the time of interview.

### Management Skills

**Essential**

- - Participation in clinical audit

### Qualification and Training

**Essential**

- - Full GMC registration with a license to practice
- - Membership of Royal College of Physicians; CST general medicine
- - 6 months NHS experience

- - CST Acute Medicine
- - Higher degree
- - ALS
