You will be a key member of the clinical team working over night delivering high quality care to patients across the Trust taking bloods and providing venous access by inserting cannulas. It is important that you understand and refer to our values during your recruitment process and beyond! ### Main duties of the job Assist in the assessment of health care needs by undertaking assessment aspects that have been delegated by the registered practitioner and completion of care documentation. To be skilled and assessed as competent in carrying out venepuncture and taking of blood samples (including labelling of samples) on patients referred to the Overnight Cannulation Service. To be skilled and assessed as competent in carrying out insertion of Trust approved cannulas following approved Trust guidelines. You must be able to dispose of sharps safely and be aware of your roles and responsibilities when looking after cannulas. To be trained and competent in the taking of blood cultures on patients being reviewed by the Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT) and at the direction of the CCOT Clinical Nurse Specialist. Supporting cardiac arrest team with venous access in emergencies.
