Alwinton ward is a 10 bedded medium-secure service for men with learning disabilities who either have offended or displayed offending type behaviour. The Activities Facilitator role on Alwinton Ward will help individuals to gain new skills and functioning for the activities of daily living. Work alongside nurses and occupational therapy staff to plan and implement sessions arising from treatment plans This post is an excellent opportunity for someone who are interested in facilitating the delivery activity, creating connection and promoting engagement within a medium secure inpatient environment alongside a strong nursing and Multi-Disciplinary Team. ### Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be supporting patients in identifying and carrying out individualised activity as well as leading to provide ward-based group activities. They will also be expected to take an active role in the implementation of Talk 1st and the Safe Ward interventions. The post holder will work closely with the nursing team as well as the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team that includes Occupation Therapy. Applications are invited from candidates who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the enthusiasm and passion to embed and develop meaningful activity. You must have a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality, safe, patient care and be a good role model in reflecting the Trusts core Values. You will be provided with training opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills associated to the role where required. The post holder’s focus will be to work towards creating an activity-based culture on the ward environment. They will both provide and co-ordinate a range of social, recreational and leisure activities. The role requires an activity facilitator who is flexible, and responsive to the needs of the service over a seven day period.
