We are looking for a number of Acting Charge Nurses who can demonstrate strong leadership, compassion and empathy to our patients, improving the quality of care and service delivery within a Secure Mental Health and Learning Disability inpatient environment.

This vacancy is for a Charge Nurse and within the Secure Care Division, you may be expected to work at any of our sites across the division.  Allocations will be determined by the service, R&R will reflect the amount for that clinical area.

Secure Care Division is responsible for specialised secure mental health and learning disability services, in low, medium and high secure settings.

Working across the Secure Care Division as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to the delivery of high standards of care and treatment to a challenging group of service users.

Along with your registered nurse qualification, you will need to have  demonstrable experience post preceptorship and demonstrate enthusiasm in your attitude, willingness to work as a team by being flexible and supportive of the wider service.

Shifts will be rostered in advance as per working practices in your base area. Working hours may include working unsocial shifts (e.g. Night duty, Weekends, School Holidays, Christmas & Bank Holidays etc.)

Charge nurses will model the Trust values of Continuous Improvement, Accountability, Respect, Enthusiasm and Support in progressing the Trust ambition to achieve perfect care for our patient group.

As a charge nurse you will operate as the clinical focus for day to day planning of treatment, risk assessment and management of the quality of care delivered to the patient group by a team of nurses, carrying continuous responsibility for care and safety issues during hours of duty.

It will be within your responsibility to maintain an overview of all cases allocated to internal care co-ordinators/case managers/care workers.

You will organise and supervise on a day to day basis the work of the nursing staff ensuring that professional standards are maintained.

- Proven communication skills (verbal & written)
- Leadership skills: supervising, teaching & assessing; self motivated with the ability to motivate others; effective resource management

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse
- Registered on the NMC register
- Demonstrates evidence of continued professional development

**Desirable**

- Teaching & assessing/ mentorship qualification
- Degree in nursing or health related subject
- Up to date portfolio
