This role is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of a local screening programme across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. You will lead the administration and screening teams, ensuring services run smoothly and efficiently.

Key duties include coordinating screening sites, managing staff rotas, arranging patient appointments, and responding to queries from clinicians, patients, and the public. You will oversee data management and reporting, support patient referrals, maintain safety and fail-safe processes, and monitor programme performance.

Manage and oversee all aspects of screening to ensure the smooth running of the programme, facilitating the appropriate management of patients within the trial as per the protocol.

Seek, inspect and select new off-site screening venues, preparing documentation of site inspections and instructions for staff.

Organise purchase of consumables and services and authorise expenditure relating to the screening programme. Has delegated budget.

Line Manager for local screening and clerical staff, including handling development and disciplinary matters.  Responsible for staff recruitment, including all aspects of advertising, recruiting, short-listing and appointing all staff associated with the local screening programme.

Actively participate in planning, preparing and presenting results for publication and presentation for internal and external review concerning data collected from the local screening programme  Generate reports and statistics as requested by Clinical Director. Extract clinical information from patient’s notes and hospital information systems relevant to screening, AAA surgery and deaths.  Archive data securely and regularly review data held, retaining only necessary data. Destroy redundant information appropriately.

Investigate and respond to queries and complaints from members of the public, outside bodies or organisations, making recommendations to the research director, clinical director and principal investigator.

Promote the abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening programme and publicise the benefits of the programme to clinicians and members of the public through various media.

- Able to move/lift ultrasound and screening kit
- Willingness to travel between units and centres
- Willingness to transport screening equipment between units and centres
- Adaptabgility to different working environments on and off site

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Relevant degree or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Higher degree with acquired knowledge and experience to Masters level
- ECDL
- Management or accounting qualification

### Personal skills

**Essential**

- Good presentation skills
- Ability to manage a team
- Clear spoken and written English
- Ability to work within a team and to effectively liaise with people at all levels
- Accurate data entry skills
- Ability to extract and manipulate data from a variety of systems

### Experience and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Experience as a senior manager with line management responsibilities
- Previous use and understanding of computer systems
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with databases and database queries.
- Understanding of hospital environment and patient care & confidentiality
- Medical terminology
- Proven experience within relevant work area
- Advanced keyboard skills

**Desirable**

- PHE Screening experience
- Previous research or audit work
- Familiarity with Bedfordshire Hospitals computer systems
