### Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Non Medical Endoscopist to join our evolving and highly skilled team within the Endoscopy Unit at Barnsley Hospital. Our department delivers a modern, patient centred service for people with gastrointestinal conditions, supported by a collaborative multidisciplinary workforce and a strong commitment to clinical excellence.

Role Purpose The post holder will provide a highly complex, highly specialised and comprehensive evidence based non medical endoscopy service. You will perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for patients in both acute and elective settings, ensuring the people of Barnsley receive the highest standard of endoscopy care. This role is central to supporting safe, timely pathways and contributing to ongoing service development.

### Main duties of the job

- Deliver specialist endoscopy procedures for patients with a range of gastrointestinal conditions.
- Perform therapeutic interventions in urgent and planned scenarios.
- Work autonomously within agreed clinical frameworks and governance structures.
- Contribute to service improvement and support high quality patient experience.
- Collaborate with the wider MDT to ensure safe, effective and seamless care.

What It Takes: We are seeking an accredited Non Medical Endoscopist with a defined sub speciality and extensive experience in endoscopy practice. We are willing to offer a training role to a dedicated, innovative and registered practitioner with the drive to progress toward accreditation.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant post registration experience, experience at Band 7 or above in the specialty of nursing patients with gastro-intestinal disorders.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- 1st Level Registration/Degree or Diploma in Operating department practice or equivalent.
- Educated to Masters level or equivalent.
- 997/998 or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification or similar recognized formal qualification.
- Accredited GI Endoscopist.
- Accredited endoscopy train the trainer.

**Desirable**

- Non Medical Prescriber or a willingness to undertake.
- Sub specialist qualifications/experience.
