### Job summary

Interview Date: 25th June.

Due to internal progression we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and driven Band 6 Rotational Clinical Pharmacist.

Our Pharmacy department has a strong clinical presence in all areas. We have an establishment of over 100 members and enjoy an excellent reputation within the Trust where we provide patient-centred Clinical Pharmacy Services to inpatients and outpatients (in the form of Pharmacist-led Clinics) at Barnsley Hospital. Our highly respected and well embedded Clinical Pharmacy Service with ward-based Clinical Pharmacists, Medicines Management Technicians and Medicines Management Support Workers will ensure that you have maximal patient contact with a minimal supply role.

We are an innovative and forward-thinking department who over recent years have invested in a host of technical improvements. The department is friendly, forward thinking and constantly expanding. This is an exciting time to be joining the team as electronic prescribing and medicines administration (EPMA) is fully embedded and we are using Quality Improvement (QI) methodology to reprofile and optimise all aspects of the pharmacy service, and we welcome and routinely implement ideas around doing things differently.

We will support you with an in-house training program and you will be offered the opportunity to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy as well as encouraged to obtain a formal qualification as a Pharmacist Prescriber.

### Main duties of the job

As a Rotational Clinical Pharmacist, you will gain wide ranging experience in all aspects of hospital pharmacy, and you will be integral to providing a Clinical Pharmacy Service to our core wards on a rotational basis. Clinical rotations will include:

Cardiology / Respiratory

Care of the Elderly

Gastroenterology / Endocrinology

General Surgery / Orthopaedics

Admissions

You will have regular meetings with the Lead Pharmacist for each speciality in order to facilitate learning objectives and to provide clinical support where needed.

During the second year of the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, you will have the opportunity to undertake a rotation within our Aseptic service, alongside the opportunity to experience speciality roles, including: haemato-oncology, critical care and paediatrics (including neonates).

You should be an excellent communicator with the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. Previous hospital experience is not essential. We welcome applications from registered or soon to be registered pharmacists.
